Young Romance

August 15, 2011

Dear all,

Paolo and I played our last ever gig as The Momeraths last Friday. We have had a great few years, and thank everyone for their support, but we now feel that it is time to move on.

We are still making music, but we are now called Young Romance. You can hear our new recordings on facebook here.. Young Romance

Thank you again to everyone,

Lots of love,

Claire and Paolo xxxxxxx

We’re traaaaash, you and me..

March 16, 2011

Spending my first paragraph writing about how i haven’t written for an age would be a waste of good words. I am sorry though.

However, we have been working away and quite frankly Paolo has been driving himself a little bit mad. I found him sitting on his chair rocking from side to side earlier staring at his computer.. this is actually truth i have video evidence. There is a reason though! We have taken a bit of time off from playing gigs and have been writing lots of new songs, and recording them. They are starting to shape up really well and we can’t wait for you to hear them! However, with Paolo in the producers seat for now he is beginning to lose his mind. (Not that there was much there to start with.. ha). He’s looking a bit like this at the mo..

ATTRACTIVE.

We have also had a bit of a photoshoot with the marvellous Maja Brenna who is probably the cutest little Noweigen lady I have ever met. It was hidiously cold standing in the middle of the park and i think that is perhaps what has caused me to have a cold that has wiped me out for a week. I have attached a few photos for you to feast your eyes on.

In other news we played a few gigs, and have discovered our new favourite band. (I seem to say that a lot.. how fickle the music world is). They are called Bordeauxxx (with three x’s as they say). If you get a chance it is well worth catching them play. They are as small as Paolo and I but cute cute cute. And Martin has some serious glockenspeil skills. Here they aaaaarrrrre…..

In other, other news we have a few festival slots confirmed and we shall announce them when the time comes. But we are allowed to say that we are definately playing 2000 trees so get your tickets!

In other, other, other non-momerath related news, my new favourite tipple is gin. Anyone who wants to is more than welcome to buy me a drink at gigs! (fast forward a few years and im in trouble)…

I hope you have been well, keep up to date with us on facebook and we will let you know as soon as these new songs are ready!

Lots and lots and lots of love

Your Winter Bones

Hello there,

Hope you are all well and enjoying the snow! We’ve been on a little mini tour and it has been one of the coldest yet, but cornwall was great by the seaside, and we’re off to Bristol this week.

We’ve finished recording our new EP ‘Your Winter Bones’ and it will be available to buy both online and in independent record shops from the 20th December. For those who have caught us at our last few gigs, or are planning to this month, you have/will have a sneak preview of some of the new songs from the EP. The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Chopped Onions

2. The Observer

3. Itchy Feet

4. Last Time Around

5. Your Winter Bones

For those of you who cant get to a show, pop to our myspace where you can listen to a couple of the new songs that are up at the moment.

September 16, 2010

Hello!

Ever since I last wrote a blog with the picture of David Bowie I couldn’t help thinking that all I wanted to do was watch Labyrith.. and lm glad to say i found my video.. This is by FAR the best bit. Unbelievable leggings david.

ANYWAY.

Paolo and i have been working away writing some new songs and recording some too, we’re in the studio tomorrow with Dave Allen (who although doesnt wear white leggings does have amazing sock/trouser combos) and we are very much looking forward to it.

We also have a gig this sunday at the Roundhouse in Camden so it would be nice to see you Londoners there. Im not exactly sure what time we’re on, but we’re playing for Love Music, Hate Racism. Will hopefully let you know this weekend!

Until then we have recorded a little song for you, its working title is ‘The Observer’ but that will probably change, but we thought we’d pop it up here for you to have a listen to. Its only short and was recorded quickly with a microphone and paolo’s new favourite toy, his pet synth, in our flats stairwell.

If you follow the link below you can download it for free!

New Demo

Until next time, love love love and love

“I’m always amazed that peole take what I say seriously. I don’t even take what I am seriously.” David Bowie.

We’ve been gone a fair old time from this blog, weve been recording lots and playing a few shows and festivals and quite frankly disregarding the computer and technological side of life completely. Back on track though, and about time for this blog.

First piece of news however, is that we have had a bit of a line-up change. We’ve had a great couple of years with Michael, Richard and Adnan, but it is now just Paolo and I carrying the momerath torch.

However, we are still playing and recording and it was great to see so many people at The old Queens head last weekend. We had a great time, even getting our heads around a few new parts and instruments but it was a good challenge!!

Weve recently been recording with Mister Dave Allen who was long term producer of the Cure, and also Dexy’s Midnight Runners and Human League to name a few. So we’ll keep you posted with how they are sounding, and if you follow this link you can find yourself a rough demo of our new song ‘The Architect’ which you may have heard at shows during the summer.

We’ve also been around the country playing a few festivals, Lounge on the Farm, Secret Garden Party and Just So and although we got tired, ratty and bad backs we had a great time swealtering in the heat! Ive popped a couple of pictures in below for you..

Let us know what you think of the song, and message us with any photos from over the summer so we can add them to our collection!!

Dont forget to check back to our facebook and myspace for details of upcoming gigs. these can all be accessed through www.themomeraths.co.uk.

Much much much love,

Claire xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Youre my first tooth and I like you very much..

July 4, 2010

Hello!!

Today im sitting with the smell of freshly baked bread swilling around my nostrils and im looking forward to tomorrow.

As i have mentioned before we are doing a split single on Alcopop! Records with a band called My First Tooth. We played with them in wimbledon last night and they blew my little socks off, and i cant wait until tomorrow when we play at The Old Blue Last on Old Street. So those londoners of you come down, its free and should be a great evening. I think we’re maybe on at about nine? Im not very sure of the exact timings yet. The facebook event is below:

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=500263390#!/event.php?eid=138732422809412&ref=mf

We’re also playing Bloody Awful Poetry at the Lock Tavern in Camden on Thursday if this suits better and it would be good to see your gorgeous faces.

But for now im going to go and make some dinner. Have a lovely evening and perhaps i’ll see you tomorrow.

Birmingham, fanta, shoes and sheep..

June 26, 2010

hello!

Goooooodness how good to be home. Paolo and I have been entertaining the borough market traders today doing a little performance in the market square. They were lovely, and Guiseppe was maybe my favourite human being.

That aside though, we played in Birmingham last Sunday. It was as gorgeous as ever in the lovely Kitchen Garden Cafe. For those who have never been, its an organic cafe-slash-garden centre-slash-music venue at night. And we couldnt have been billed with two more lovely bands, Big Hands Big Heart and the charming Stealing Sheep, who kindly donated Tshirts and a CD to the momeraths ‘get home late at night’ cause.

I have a couple of pictures from my good old phone, a shoe quiz, just for no real reason. Can you guess the feet?

Hmm I should hope at least one was right!

While In birmingham i realised how much i love normal fanta, but hate the fruit twist one. If you have ever had bad childhood experiences with bacardi breezers or any other similar alcopops then steer well clear. Eughghgh.

Well have a lovely evening, enjoy the sun and the football tomorrow!!

Lots and lots of big love from the momeraths xxx

Sixty million postcards and cobbled streets..

June 13, 2010

That is where we have spent the last couple of days.

It was our first ever time in bournemouth this week and we had the best time. we got fed and watered very well indeed (maybe too much watering in some cases according to the noisy boys on the way home), got painted as cats by the lovely Louise and only managed a five minute stint at the beach before being slightly verbally abused by some drunk fifteen year olds. Kids these days.

It was great fun, and slightly odd as after my comment that everyone should get painted as cats too, there emerged a big group of whisker-adorned faces staring back at me! We shall definately be back in bournemouth. (be prepared for the poser photos below.) Massive thanks to Katie and all at Sixty Million Postcards.

Other than that we have been back busking in guilford, and will hopefully be hitting a street near you soon!

We are also doing a mini-tour with My First Tooth, but watch this space for dates.

Lots of love! xxx

You always seem to talk all through the night..

June 9, 2010

These clouds arent exciting me very much today. Everyone looks a bit miserable and seem to be sick of the hair-frizzing humidity.

The sun is creeping through the clouds though, and hopefully the skies will brighten again. I came across this song a couple of weeks ago and it has grown and grown on me. The mystery jets are indeed one of our most loved bands, and this has to be one of the catchiest yet.

I come across these songs and become obsessed thinking theyre the best pop records ever made. It happened with flash a hungry smile too.

I think im perhaps either a superfan.. or ive lost my head completely.
